Origin:
In 2007, for our group of friends and martial arts practitioners, it was obvious that we lacked in France specialized shops with high-end equipment, it was then that Masamune was born!The Masamune team then started to import and offer the best Japanese material for martial arts. With our Parisian shop and our Dojo, we have created a real place dedicated to Japanese martial culture, a must for all practitioners and lovers of Japanese culture!
Masamune:
The name of our sign Masamune 正 宗 refers to the famous swordsmith of the early 14th century whose blades are classified as national treasures. He worked in Kamakura, Soshu province, also known as Sagami. It is considered one of the main representatives of the forging tradition of Soshu, one of the 5 great forging traditions (Gokaden).Masamune blades are world renowned for their elegance, high quality steel, Nie-based quenching lines, and exceptional cutting edge!
Masamune kanji 正 宗 are also an image of our philosophy:
Masa kanji '正' means 'right, correct, exact'.
Mune kanji '宗' means 'origin, source, foundation'.
Our team:
The Masamune team is composed of experienced and passionate martial arts practitioners. It was around Aikido, the path of harmonization, that we found ourselves and founded Masamune. Having also practiced other martial arts, we have a wide and deep expertise in the field and are recognized for the quality of our listening and advice. We also consider all our customers as fellow trainers, tatami mats, and we are committed to advising and informing them as much as possible.

Our brand Masamune distributes internationally known Japanese brands. It is important for us to make known all this high quality material dedicated to our passions. The companies we work with are small family and craft companies. It also seems important to respect their functioning and their know-how. Thus, we have never tried to copy or reproduce their material and techniques, whose quality has no equal.
The products we offer are therefore entirely made in Japan by the biggest brands of martial arts equipment. This vision and total respect for our suppliers is fully in the spirit of preserving these small businesses, their know-how and more broadly Japanese crafts!
