Do Himo Bamboo - Meirin
Do Himo Bamboo from our Japanese supplier Meirin.
Bamboo 100% cotton cords to hold the chest strap (Do) on the torso.
The Do himo fits easily and attaches to the Dochikawa, the leather buckles on the bottom of the Do.
A set of Do Himo consist of 4 Himo, 2 long, which attach to the upper Dochikawa, and go on the Munekawa, loops on the top of the Do, crossed flat in the back.
The 2 short Himo bind to the lower Dochikawa and tie each other in the back.
The standard length of long Do Himo is 3 尺 (shaku), or 90.90 cm.
The short Do Himo are 2 尺 (shaku) long, or 60.60 cm.
These Do Himo Bamboo in traditional cotton are the intermediate level of top quality in the Shouchikubai (Pine-Bamboo-Plum) classification for upper cotton links.
A batch contains 2 pairs of Himo (cords).

Masamune Team's Advice:
- Check the cord before and after training regularly.
- After using Do, tie the Himo around it to dry flat.
- If the Himo is twisted, feel free to unfold it and then iron it back to its original shape.
- The cord will break in the striking or fastening areas.
- Once the cord is damaged, it can't be repaired and must be changed.
Classification System - Shō-Chiku-Bai 松 竹 梅
This old system classifies the quality of the products to which it applies, in descending order of quality: Pine, Bamboo, Plum.
- Plum - 梅 (Bai, Ume)
The first level of this qualitative gradation. Plum is one of the first trees to bloom in spring when it is still cold. - Bamboo - 竹 (Chiku, Take)
Intermediate level of gradation. The Bamboo, symbol of growth and success keeps its green all year round. - Pine - 松 (Shō, Matsu)
Upper level. The Pine symbol of longevity, keeps its greenery all year round with its evergreen foliage.
