A warrior under the pines is depicted on the Kashira.
A Menpo and a Sode are depicted on the Fuchi.
In this Fuchi Kashira, the Mempo and the sode are placed on the ground, and the warrior is resting under a pine tree.
The Menpo 面頬 is the Samurai armor mask hiding the lower part of the face (jaw and nose).
It seems that the Mempo appeared in Japan around the 14th or 15th century.
The Mempo were made of leather or iron, with faces and features of demons, kami or divinities to scare the enemy. They were often decorated with mustaches, teeth. With the Kabuto 兜 (helmet), these are the two head protections of a Japanese armor.
Unlike the helmets of European armor, the Mempo only covered the lower part of the face, allowing better visibility.
In modern culture, we find the example of the Mempo in the Star Wars Saga.
Spielberg was inspired by Japanese armor for Darth Vader's mask.
