This oil is a very high quality clove based oil, th famous Choji 丁子. It is one of the best oils for Japanese swords, recommended by all Japanese antique dealers.
Clover trees are native from Malaysia and have been known throughout the world for centuries, even millennia, for their medicinal properties. Easy to recognize by its fragrance, clove has antibacterial, anesthetic and antiseptic properties. It is also a powerful antifungal and parasitic protection.

Used to lubricate and protect the blade from oxidation, it will also impregnate the wood of the saya so that the blade slides more easily, and to protect it from parasites.
