The Mukade (百足) is a centipede or centipede.
The Japanese Mukade is non-lethal but has a very painful bite; its venom can paralyze a human arm for several days. His liveliness and ferocity (even when cut in two he continues to fight and can poison...) were appreciated by certain Samurai.
Takeda Shingen used it as a symbol on his flag with Sun Tzu's Fūrinkazan (風林火山), "...swift as the wind, majestic as the forest, devouring as the flame, unshakeable as the mountain."
Finally, the Mukade is also the symbol of the warrior divinity Bishamonten. It represents power and authority and brings good luck.
