A Noren (暖 簾) is a curtain split in its center. It serves as a sign on stores when it is put outside, and serves to delimit parts when it is positioned inside.
On this noren, is reproduced one of the most famous prints by Hokusai Katsushika, "Kanagawa-oki nami-ura" (神 奈 川 沖 浪 裏) or "The Great Kanagawa Wave" which is part of a series of prints entitled "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji".
