The Umebachi, is the Mon or emblem of the Maeda Keiji (前田 慶次) family, who served under Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, while maintaining deep ties with the Tokugawa family.
The Maeda family founded the Kaga domain (加賀藩 - Kaga han), located in the former provinces of Kaga, Noto and Etchū (present-day Ishikawa and Toyama prefectures).
This domain has the distinction of being one of the richest domains in Japan, with 1,000,000 Koku of revenue.
