Nuguigami Traditional

The traditional Nuguigami 拭紙 is a must-have for your Japanese blades.

Nuguigami 拭紙 is a sheet of paper dedicated to cleaning Japanese blades. These sheets are made of washi-type paper (kozogami), and made in a unique process that gives it a creped texture. Made from mulberry wood it is a very high quality paper, also called Hoshogami 奉書紙.

It is, in addition to the Uchiko, more 'abrasive' than the classic Nuguigami for iaito, which is why we recommend it more for steel blades. It will clean your blade on the surface from excess oil, rust and impurities.
