This Fuchi Kashira is a style produced by craftsmen in the former Higo Province, southwest of Kyushu. Its 'nose-shaped' name refers to the shape of a nostril. The name Kurigata is also the same as for the small piece of the scabbard used to pass the Sageo.
It is known that Miyamoto Musashi, who lived and died in Higo province, had this type of Fuchi Kashira on some mounts. Rounded and prominent, it is also a piece allowing you to strike the opponent directly with the end of the Tsuka (handle).
