A Noren (暖 簾) is a curtain split in its center. It serves as a sign on stores when it is put outside, and serves to delimit parts when it is positioned inside.
This Noren represents the deities Fujin and Raijin, god of wind and god of thunder.
Fujin 風 神 is the god of the wind, and his brother Raijin 雷 神 is the god of lightning. These two gods, "rival brothers" are angry deities but also protectors of Japan, It is a replica of Towaraya Sotatsu’s painting originally made in the 17th century on a screen covered with gold leaf.
