Tonari no Totoro 'Sakura Mau'
More informations about this product
A Noren (暖 簾) is a curtain split in its center. It serves as a sign on stores when it is put out, and serves to delimit parts when it is positioned inside.
There are several symbols on this noren. Totoro, the iconic character and mascot of Ghibli Studios, was born from the film Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) by Hayao Miyazaki. An icon of the Japanese manga world, it is in a way the equivalent of Mickey Mouse in Japan, and is very often used for young people and children.
The Sakura Mau (桜 舞 う) is the cherry blossom dance, a fairly old traditional dance performed by the Geiko and Maiko to celebrate the blossoming of cherry blossoms, symbol of renewal, and the return of spring. This dance is rather native to Kyoto where it is still practiced.
