This Tsuba represents a plum (Ume - 梅) and bamboo (Take - 竹). This plant association, one of the most moving flowers and plants in Japan, is called "Saikan Niga" (歳寒二雅).
Saikan Niga means "Cold year, two elegance". Bamboo is green all year long, it is resistant and persistent. The plum, which blooms at the end of winter, in early spring, blooms from the branches, even the oldest.
This strengthens the resistance and persistence side. Patience and resistance give birth to a beauty that will see the light of day.
