Maru Gata (丸形, Round) shape tsuba. From Owari Province design (尾張), Boke (木瓜, Cognassier), in Sukashi (透), opening. Maru Mimi rounded edge.
This Tsuba comes from the Owari (尾張) province that moved to Kumamoto, Higo Province.
The shape Boke (木瓜) or Mokko, is that of the Japanese Quince tree, a shrub with pretty flowers in shades of red, which bloom in late winter, or early spring.
Given its resistance to weather conditions, it is a symbol of resistance to life’s difficulties and the ability to overcome them
