The Japanese narcissus, also called Nihon Suisen, is a symbol of respect. It is rather related to winter and new year.
水仙 (Suisen); the first kanji is “water” and the second is an immortal in Taoism. It was so named because it is pure, and lives long in the water.
This flower is often used in the tea ceremony, it has a great aesthetic importance in families related to the floral ceremony (Ikebana -生け花), originally the prerogative of the Samurai, and to the tea ceremony: Chadō (茶道).
