Niju Yamaji 二重山路 means 'Two mountain paths'.
This is a copy of a work by Koyama ‘Jozan’ Yoshikazu (古山如山義和), a modern Mukansa-classified craftsman.
This pattern represents two mountain paths.
Koyama Jozan being from Gifu, we think that these are mountain trails of the famous Japanese Alps (日本アルプス, Nihon Arupusu), located in this region.
The straight line at the base of the Fuchi represents a valley path around the mountain, often used for goods.
The S-shaped line on the Kashira represents a winding mountain path that was used by pilgrims, hikers and other walkers.
