Takemagakun - Polishing Stone for Shinai - Meirin
This Polishing Stone for Shinai, 竹磨くん (Takemagakun), manufactured by Hasagawa, is a service tool for your Shinai, especially the Bamboo to extend its life.
After using the plough, or for light sanding work, use its two abrasive faces:
- coarse grained abrasive surface (Brown)
- fine finishing abrasive surface (Grey)

Recommendations for use:
- Wear gloves when using the Takemagakun.
- Always start with the rough surface, which is less prone to fouling as wax may have been applied to the surface of new products.
- Always use the Takemagakun from base to tip.
(If rubbing in the opposite direction, the sheath may stick to your hand and cause injury.) - Keep away from the fire. It may deform due to high temperatures.
- Do not use in water: adhesive may come off.
- Do not use on Carbon Shinai.
Advice from the Masamune Team :
- Check your Shinai, its general condition and each of its components regularly.
- Do not leave your tools exposed to direct sunlight.
- If a slat on your Shinai is broken, it should be replaced to avoid injury during training.
