More informations about this product

Kawari Gata (変り形, Irregular) shaped tsuba. Design by Yotsu Wa (四ツ輪, 4-wheeled), in Sukashi (透), opening.

  • Height: 72 mm
  • Width: 73 mm
  • Thickness: 5.0 mm
  • Weight: 90 g

This Tsuba represents a Buddhist symbol: 四ツ輪 which reads Yotsu Wa or Shirin, the 4 wheels.
These 4 wheels represent you:

  • • The Great Circular Rings to support the Earth (Mount Sumer in the Hindu vision of the world): the Void Ring, the Wind Ring, the Water Ring, and the Gold Ring.
These wheels are activated by the Tenrinjō (転輪聖王), the Kings of wisdom who rule or Chakravartin. Buddhist scriptures describe one of the previous incarnations of Shakyamuni Buddha as a Tenrinjō.

  • • These wheels would be the four major regions around Mount Sumer. The Summit, or center is the land of the Emperor, where the four heavenly kings and other celestial beings live on different levels.
Humans live in the southern province.
